PETER FOX FUNERAL.

Pa and Nana are very sad at the death of Peter. For as long as Pa can remember he has been able to go to Peter and have a catch up and chat. We are going to miss him, a wonderful gentle man who loved family and life

SEPTEMBER HOLIDAYS HAVE ARRIVED 2013

Nana worked at the Hospital Op Shop on Friday and then Pa came with Nana to Eaglehawk to collect Caillou for one week of the holidays. On Sunday we went to Mangantang to visit friends and Caillou was taken out to see the happenings on their farm, even saw two kangaroos.
Nana and Caillou spent Saturday cleaning up rubbish and this is Caillou's twig burn up.

Crushing bread crumbs for the macaroni cheese casserole for tea.

What an excitement this was, found a toad and we had to have a close look = didn't want to pick up.

Caillou watching the crop spray plane when he was spraying for grubs in the pea crop.
Adam preparing the auger for the header, Caillou watching.

Truck being loaded with wheat, Caillou had a look.

Pa look at me in the Barley.!!!!!

Finally caught Smooth for a photo but not very happy about the idea .Very Photo shy dog.
Been busy around the farm.
Hi to all on holidays as well, hope you are having a great time.

Twilight peas, I think this combination of colours if very pretty.

Barley just after the wonderful rain we had, can see the droplets still lingering on flag.

Wheat .
We had a very good rain and the crops are looking much better, had a very hot nasty day on Monday and this dries out everything quickly.
Happenings on the farm are mostly preparing the header  for the coming harvest, repairing  waiting for ordered parts to arrive.

LEAVES EVERYWHERE, CLEAN UP,FLOWERS OF SPRING. HEADER REPAIRS.

Last week the clouds came and went, we missed out on the rain. Crops are still looking okay, barley is out in ear, peas are flowering, soon the wheat will be coming into head as well. Monday was such a windy day this is what the yard looked like leaves built up all over the lawn.

Nana has been clearing up some of the plants that have grown up and needed a tidy up. Pa put the loader at the gate for Nana to load the rubbish straight into the bucket ready for carting away.
Don,t you love flowers? Nasturtiums are such happy flowers with all the yellow and orange colors.

Spring is such a pretty time of the year, the blossoms on the flowering trees are making a beautiful display, pink flowers with the purple leaves just starting

Adam has brought his header to our place to do some repairs for the coming harvest. Pa has the fork lift out to help with the lifting of the large parts.
The men are busy getting out all the parts to check what will need attention and repairing.

This week we had a Birthday Girl - Happy Birthday Bonnie, hope you had a lovely day.
Next month we have a number having a Birthday, how the year has flown - soon it will be summer and Christmas.
LOVE TO EVERYBODY.          BYE FOR NOW.

HEADER REPAIRS,CANOLA. HAKEA FLOWERING, TOUR OF THE MALLEE bike ride 2013.

Pa has the header out for it's annual 'LOOK OVER'. Getting into the body of the header and making sure everything that needs looking into is done prior to Harvesting.

This is the first time we have grown canola, it has beautiful yellow flowers that can be seen from a distance.

I have been checking this tree for days, waiting for the unusual flowers to start opening and display their beautiful pink colour. At last! it is nearly open, the 'curls' will straighten out -  what a sight they will be and the birds will look for the nectar.

The Tour the MALLEE, left Swan Hill today 4th
September 2013 heading to Quambatook for the night. I was pulled over by the police and asked to stop on the roadside till they all had passed. There was a large escort of police on motor bikes and cars which were then followed by the riders. After this they had all the people that transport  the camping gear, extra wheels etc. I was lucky to have a small camera with me, but they were travelling fast and this was all I could capture of the bike riders.

The days have been very warm, quite like summer days - but - we are anxiously looking for rain for the crops. The clouds have come over this evening and hopefully we will get something.
Nana has been planting out some tomato plants, seeds of corn and peas in the vegie patch. I will have to watch the weather forecasts to check for frost warnings, still very early in Spring. The strawberries are coming into flower, soon- can't wait -there will be lovely red strawberries to pick, yum.
Love to each and everybody.
