VETCH BAILED. CANOLA CUT AND WINDROWED.

Fork lift and some of the vetch bales waiting to be loaded.

Another view of the bales and fork lift.

Bales stacked and ready to load, there are four more piles in the background. All have been carted away now.

Canola cut and windrowed waiting for the headers to come and harvest.

See the rows stretching up over the rise.
Harvest has started with these two crops, waiting for Barley, Wheat and Peas to ripen and will be into everything - full swing in the next week or two.
Doesn't seem very long ago we were planting these and now they are to be harvested.
Love you all.

DELIVERING GRAIN TO DAIRY. Pa WITH SMOOTH, BIRD.

Pa filling up the dairy silo with grain for the cows to eat.

Nearly empty, just scraping out the last of the load.

Cows have all been milked, this is the rotary dairy that they stand on to be milked.
Pa trying to get smooth to look at the camera.

With the big winds that we have been getting this Spring this Bird has arrived, one of the kookaburra family.
We have had a very windy month, very unusual, most days have been very 'blowy' hope it calms down soon.
Think I will have just one more post of the farm activities over the past few weeks.
Love.

WEATHER HAS BROUGHT OUT THE STUMPY TAIL LIZARDS. CHASER BIN.

On my way to the shed when I nearly stepped on this lizard.

However when I came back to the house this fellow was about to 'tuck' into the cat food in the bag at the back door. Trying to hold the little 'fella' and take the photo was a real juggle.
Zoe and Caillou-don't know how to delete ??!!!
Pa has arrived with our new 2nd hand Chaser Bin for the coming harvest.

Doesn't look too bad, but will have to extend the auger.

At the workshop, starting on the alterations.

Finished, the extra section is about where the pallet is pointing to.
Nearly ready for the harvest.

FAY'S 70TH BIRTHDAY.

Went to Bendigo for Fays birthday party and had a wonderful time. Caught up with Fays children, spouses, and beautiful grandchildren. Fay made the little figures on the cake. Lots of yummy food, and great company.
Brendan, Jacquie, Kirstyn Marita and two kids. Salads being prepared in Fay and Ian's kitchen.

Takara waiting for the food, Travis putting some of the salads on the table.
Takara looking through the scrap book of Fay's life.

This is a wonderful cake, Fay has made little people of all the family, plus Ian's family. Candles on the cup cakes. Took ages to light them all.

Fay and Ian listening to the speeches of congratulations. This is the garage which doubles as an entertainment area, sliding door opens onto the verandah.

WOW all the candles going. The grandkids helped to blow them out.

Cutting the cake, Jacquie waiting to take off the little people and cut up the cake.
Congratulations to Fay, such a great afternoon, everybody enjoyed themselves.
Takara had never meet this side of the family however the kids played together.
It has been a busy time.
Love to you all.

Swan Hill Show. Pa clearing away the fallen tree, Takara colouring.

I'm am back again blogging. So much has been happening of late blogging was put on hold. Takara came for the last week of the school holidays, Pa removed the gum tree that had blown down in the storm, went shopping, ten pin bowling, looking up Australian Dolls and colouring in pictures, and also spent a day at the local show. We had lots of fun at the show weather was lovely, nursing an Australian dog - a Dingo - making a wax hand, going through the exhibitions. Then it was time for Takara to go back home. We went to Bendigo for my sisters 70th Birthday and meet Takara's MUM there, caught up with the nieces and nephews and their beautiful families.
Pa taking the gum tree away.
Takara colouring in the pictures of the 'Australian Doll'

Takara with the finished Wax mould of her hand.

The hand had to be coated with grease then put into iced water. The hot wax is in the pots.
What a beautiful Australian DOG - Dingo - This is a pup. The owner has these dogs at Lake Boga apparently they don't bark, but have a howling sound.

Takara checking out the scarecrow at the exhibit hall.
I have make a mistake with the pictures, here is Takara putting her hand into the molten wax to make the wax mould.

Takara in ball waiting for it to inflate. She will be put onto the water you can see in the background. This was lots of fun.

Lady inflating the ball and will push Takara into the pool to float and play around in the ball. These were some of the activities available at the Local Show.
More pictures to come.
Love to you all.

WIND DAMAGE AFTER STORM 3OTH SEPTEMBER 2013

Takara and Nana left Swan Hill just after 5pm on Monday looked a bit stormy and then as we were  half way home the wind struck. Branches and trees started to fall down around us and onto the road, it wasn't fun being out in that. The wind gusts measured 107 Kilometers at 5.25pm, so glad to see the house and drive into the garage and shelter. Pa had come inside to keep out of everything, however as we drove in we could see 'smooth dog' sitting up in the tractor out of the storm where Pa had left him.
Takara pointing to the gum tree that had fallen away from the house.

These photo's were taken just after the storm passed.
Next day - we took the camera out to inspect the damage.
This is all that is left standing of the gum tree, one branch and a big tear where the tree broke away.

Takara on the gum tree that had broken off.

Looking towards the house, you can see how lucky we were to have the tree fall over the fence.

Now we are at the back of the garage. One of the trees down where we back out of the garage. Pa has a bit of cleaning up to do. Wind is still blowing today, but nothing like yesterday.
Spring always has very "moody" days - beautiful one day and so windy the next. Every year that we can remember there have been bad winds and someone has something blown over or damaged.
Bye for now.
Take care and keep safe.
